We all know that with heat starting to rise, we’re finding more and more customers are after something cooler, unusual or sweeter. Whether this be to get their caffeine fix or to give in to their sweet tooth here are some of our top picks for some summer drinks to cool you down.
Chocolate Nut Baklava Frappe:
This is a hit for those who looking for something with full flavour blended together this will surely have you cooled down and your sweet tooth filled. Frappes are a great way to cool down, and can be added to any menu as a special, or permanently for summer, you can mix it up for Christmas or winter no matter what you desire you can always make frappes work on your menu. What you’ll need is: Ghirardelli Chocolate Syrup 40mL or 3 pumps, 2x 8oz cups of ice, 1 x 8oz cup of milk, 3 macadamia nut biscuits and half a scoop of vanilla frappe base powder, blend it together in a blender and this will leave you wanting more.
Spritzers:
A big trend at the moment and still a favourite is spritzers! These drinks are slightly sweet without a lot of the sugar and still keeping that bubbly taste of a fizzy drink. Spritzers are easy to make just requiring a syrup of your choice and sparking water! A favourite of ours is a Lemon Lime Spritzer using 15mL Lime Syrup, 15mL Lemon Syrup, and 8oz of Sparkling water, you can garnish with lemon and lime to add a bit of decoration.
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri (Alcoholic or Non-Alcoholic):
Here’s one for the adults but also can be for the kids too of course if you leave out the alcohol. We all know that daiquiris are a classic for summer, especially if they are frozen. That tangy sweet taste mixed with the cool refreshing ice provides the ultimate summer drink.
What you’ll need: 400g Strawberries, 30ml Strawberry 1883 Syrup, 200g ice and ½ a lime or 20ml of Lime 1883 Syrup (works as well). For the adults 100ml or rum or if you’re making it for the kids as well then leave out the rum! Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend well! This makes for a great Friday afternoon/ evening drink that all can enjoy!
Iced latte:
Always a classic menu item is the iced latte. They are simple to make and great all year round, but summer is when they really take off. It’s simple, fill your cup with ice (depending on the size) add milk ¾ to the top and then your coffee shots (also depending on your cup size! It’s that simple!
Why not also give cold brew a go! You will require a cold brewer such as a Brewista, Hario, Bruer or Kalita Brewer to make your coffee. Simply take 60 grams of medium to light roasted coffee (each ground slightly different, we use on a deli grinder 4,5 and 6). Then soak the grounds lightly in 100ml of water, fill your water compartment with 250ml water and 250ml of ice and let it drip every 8-10 seconds overnight. Serve 150ml with a few cubes of ice and there you have it.
